Case Studies

Different Industries. Different Challenges. The Same Work.

Great case studies don’t prove marketing works. They prove what happens when an entire organization behaves like a brand.

Every business starts from a different place. Some are accelerating growth. Others need to increase margins, prepare for acquisition, strengthen sales, align operations, or create a customer experience worth paying more for.

The industries change. The challenges change. The work does not.

EXOVATIONS®

The PromiseWhat stress-free remodeling looks like.™
The Story

You will have your home exterior remodeling project on-time, on-budget, and without all the stress you usually hear about in construction.

The Problem

Homeowners expected remodeling to be stressful, which made price the easiest thing to compare. Growth had flattened, and every conversation eventually came back to the number.

The Solution

We defined a promise the industry considered impossible, then built the business to keep it. Hiring, training, job descriptions, compensation, recognition, sales tools, operations, and customer communication all changed to prove it. Every person knew the proof points they owned.

The Outcome

Customers understood why paying more made sense. Prospects arrived expecting a premium and prepared to understand it, so the promise did the work the discount used to do.

The promise did not become a marketing campaign. It became the operating standard for the company.

Results
  • One operating standard now guides hiring, training, compensation, sales, operations, customer experience, reviews, and referrals
  • Doubled revenue
  • Doubled EBITDA and net profit
  • Doubled qualified leads
  • +50%Increased average project size
  • +5-10Increased closing rates by 5 to 10 percentage points per salesperson
  • Protected pricing through a compelling value proposition
One thing we learned

A promise no competitor is willing to make may be the only kind worth owning.

People laughed at “on time, on budget, stress free.” That reaction was the evidence it was worth keeping. The work was not writing the line. It was changing job descriptions, compensation, sales tools, and operating standards until every person knew the proof points they owned.

This was not a marketing project. It became another example of Behave Like a Brand™ in action.

SYNTHETEX®

The PromiseReinforcing Infrastructure for Good.™
For the good of the project. For the good of the contractor. For the good of the world.
The Story

We repositioned the company around the value it created for projects, contractors, and communities, rather than leading with engineering specifications.

The Problem

Owning patented technology was not enough to command the enterprise value the founder wanted. The opportunity was never selling HYDROTEX®. It was building a stronger business: disciplined operations, stronger financials, scalable commercial processes, and a market position worth more to a strategic buyer.

The Solution

As Interim CMO and later Interim CEO, I worked with the leadership team to strengthen the business from the inside out. We streamlined operations, improved financial reporting, clarified the product portfolio, standardized pricing, and built the value proposition around one promise. The result was a stronger company, not simply a stronger message.

The Outcome

Buyers understood they were acquiring a stronger business, not simply patented technology. They saw disciplined leadership, stronger financials, and a company prepared for growth inside a larger organization. After the acquisition I led seller-side due diligence, then served four months as Interim CEO guiding integration.

The buyer was not paying for the patent. They were paying for a company that had become worth acquiring.

Results
  • One promise, Reinforcing Infrastructure for Good.™, guided operations, financial reporting, pricing, sales, and the market position
  • 2Acquisition offers, creating competitive interest among strategic buyers
  • $60BAcquired by a global infrastructure conglomerate
  • Sold at the valuation the founder had hoped to achieve
  • Enterprise value built beyond ownership of the patented HYDROTEX® technology
  • Led the company through acquisition, due diligence, and post-acquisition integration
One thing we learned

Technical superiority is not a promise until a customer can understand it.

The engineering was already excellent. What changed was making it easier to understand, specify, and buy, which is an organizational job long before it is a marketing one.

This was not a marketing project. It became another example of Behave Like a Brand™ in action.

Align Leadership Around One Promise

The Holbrook

The Promisebecause a better living environment leads to a better life.
The Story

At The Holbrook, we believe that your best life is ahead of you, and we fill our communities with the interiors, amenities, programs, menus, and treatments that do just that.

The Problem

Families were comparing amenities instead of outcomes. The conversation rarely reached what daily life would actually feel like, so it defaulted to price per square foot.

The Solution

We defined the promise, then proved it. Clinical research, educational events, wellness, dining, programming, tours, and sales enablement were all rebuilt to demonstrate the same claim rather than assert it.

The Outcome

Families saw a better future instead of a nicer facility. Once the conversation changed, the pricing stopped needing a defense.

A better life is not a promise a brochure can keep. The clinical evidence had to support it, the science had to guide the delivery, and the story had to stay true to both.
Results
  • The promise became the standard across dining, wellness, programming, tours, marketing, and resident experience
  • 92-96%Census increased from approximately 90 to 92 percent
  • The sales team sold value instead of price
  • Sales conversations shifted from amenities to quality of life
  • Maintained premium pricing and healthy margins
One thing we learned

A promise that governs hiring governs everything downstream.

Dining, wellness, programming, and service could not each interpret the promise their own way. Once one standard guided all of them, residents stopped experiencing departments and started experiencing a company.

This was not a marketing project. It became another example of Behave Like a Brand™ in action.

I AM Roofing®

The PromiseBringing the truth about your roof.™
The Story

We understand that Trust Starts with Truth.® You need to know whether your roof really needs work now, and our RoofTruth® system tells you exactly that. If your roof needs replacing, we show you why and recommend what your roof actually needs. If your roof does not need repairs, we show you why, and give you a clean bill of health and a timeline for what to expect over the coming months and years.

The Problem

Homeowners did not know who to trust. Every inspection felt like a sales call, and the category default was to find damage quickly and close faster.

The Solution

Trust became something the customer could see. The RoofTruth® system, a documented inspection, team training, and role-playing built the promise into the way every homeowner conversation runs.

The Outcome

Trust became the first conversation instead of price, and the company stopped competing by discounting.

Keeping the promise sometimes meant telling a homeowner they did not need a new roof. That is the moment a promise stops being marketing.
Results
  • Trust Starts with Truth.® became the operating standard for every inspection, recommendation, and sales conversation
  • Completely transformed the sales process
  • Created a differentiated sales story customers immediately understand
  • Increased closing rates
  • Increased average project size
  • Protected pricing without discounting
One thing we learned

Trust is a claim until the business makes it inconvenient to break.

Trust Starts with Truth.® only meant something once it constrained what the company would say in a sales conversation, and what it would refuse to do to win one.

This was not a marketing project. It became another example of Behave Like a Brand™ in action.

Action Properties

The PromiseStress ends here.®
The Story

Because we offer all of your real estate options, we can guide you to a confident decision whether it is selling, leasing, buying, or renting, because we know all the actions required for a confident decision and outcome. We’ve got you. Stress Ends Where Action Begins.®

The Problem

Real estate decisions had become fragmented and confusing. Buying, selling, leasing, investing, and management were each understood separately, so clients had to choose a door before they understood the value behind any of them.

The Solution

"One Team. All Options." became the standard rather than the slogan. One customer story now unifies every service, and one brand standard guides marketing, sales, operations, and customer communication.

The Outcome

Clients understood they had one trusted partner instead of multiple disconnected services, which is why they stop wondering whether they should have chosen differently.

Stress does not end because a company promises it will. It ends when every person can answer one question, and prove the answer: if stress ends with me, what does that require of me?

ProofThe same promise, on the canopy and on the people.Stress ends here.® is not a line on a banner. It is what the tent, the table, the printed programs, and every person standing behind them are built to deliver.
Early Results
  • One operating standard now guides marketing, sales, operations, and customer communication
  • Doubled the number of agents actively listing and selling
  • Buying, selling, leasing, investing, and management unified under one customer story
  • Increased property management closing rates
  • Strengthened value positioning while protecting margins
One thing we learned

Consistency is what a promise feels like from the outside.

Marketing, sales, operations, and service now run on the same standard. A client cannot tell which department they are speaking to, which is the point.

This was not a marketing project. It became another example of Behave Like a Brand™ in action.
